This prominent home set into a south facing hillside above the Waikato River sits proudly in its context showcasing the integration of apartment style living and aesthetics with suburban styled grandeur. Subtle ‘apartment’ styled modular panels combined with typical ‘suburban' styled weatherboard claddings, working to enforce this approach. This hybrid styling is also represented with the formal and spatial components of the home; merging flat, contemporary ‘boxed’ 3-Dimensional elements, with more relaxed angular and mono-pitch suburban roof forms and facades. The home is divided into three distinguishable pavilions; bedrooms to the east, living, dining and kitchen to the central south and utilities and service function spaces to the west. The interior becomes luminous and buoyant aided by the elevation and fitout. Contemporary pieces help to break up the open plan living, kitchen and dining areas, dividing the vast space into dedicated, distinct living zones.
