On Thursday the 20th February, Team Architects was one of the founding signatories with approximately 40 companies within the architecture and engineering sectors to sign up to the Diversity Agenda Accord.
Minister for Women, Hon Julie Anne Genter, officially launched the Accord at Parliament’s Grand Hall. Industry leaders and representatives including Rachel Dodd (Director, Arthouse Architects), Ian Blair (Managing Director NZ, WSP), Whare Timu, Callum Smith, Yaser Shakib and Elisapeta Heta shared personal stories with the group gathered, highlighting the importance for such an accord.
Engineers and architects create the world around us. Our work is integral to the wellbeing and advancement of human life. We want engineers and architects to represent everyone, so the world they create is as diverse and inspiring as the people in it. The diversity agenda accord marks a commitment to making our industries diverse and inclusive to all. Everyone has the right to feel they belong – where they are safe, supported and valued. Anything less will not reflect the communities we support.
Team Architects is proud to be fully committed to this accord as a signatory and is bound and annually accountable to the clearly defined tenets;
-LEADERS AND DECISION MAKERS ARE LEADING THE WAY.
-OUR PEOPLE INFLUENCE OUR DECISIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS.
-WE EXPECT FAIR AND INCLUSIVE TREATMENT FOR AND FROM EVERYONE, INCLUDING ALL ORGANISATIONS WE WORK WITH.
Team Architects is excited to be on a progressive journey to being a more inclusive, open and diverse practice across all locations and expects this accord will be one driver in achieving this.
