The old garage/ petrol station was originally built in 1935 in the art deco style. Sadly as the years passed the building became aged and no longer fit for purpose. Team Architects in Greymouth designed the renovation to this heritage New Zealand, historic place category 2 building, bringing new life to the streets of Greymouth. The solid, toilet block section of the building was demolished and glass facades installed. This restored the symmetry of the façade and created more street frontage for retail. The façade was repainted with a bold art deco inspired colour scheme. The building is now recently completed and multiple new retail tenancies are open for business.
