Withstanding the test of time

New Plymouth Team Architects Paul Goldsmith and Terry Boon received a special award at the NZIA Local Architecture awards on the 11th May. The New Plymouth Telephone Exchange originally built in 1982 received the Enduring Architecture Award. The jury noted from the moment of arrival the New Plymouth Telephone Exchange draws you in through the clever use of natural light and leads you up into a spacious office floor. Specially noted the combination of high ceilings, low windows and exterior planting has evoked a feeling of space and calm in this office – a rare enough experience in any new office building.
