Jane is an experienced and respected senior architect who takes a considered and thorough approach to every project. She began her career in Christchurch in the field of care/hospital design, before moving to Wellington where she has lived for the past 26 years.

While she has worked across a wide range of design areas including hospitality, commercial and education, Jane now focuses predominantly on designing for the aged care sector, particularly in dementia care, palliative care and high-level hospital care for the aged. Jane recently won the Aged Care Association’s Built and Grown Environment Award, which highlights exceptional design in the aged care sector, for the Summerset Memory Centre at Summerset by the Ranges. Among her other notable projects are Horowhenua Village, Woburn Village, and the Home of Compassion, Silverstream.

Calm, dependable and approachable, Jane is adept at listening to clients, understanding their needs and responding with a successful built solution. Her design approach centres on the use of simple and honest forms and materials, and revealing beauty in even the smallest details.

Early in her career, Jane was a member of the Wellington Women in Architecture committee, which won an NZIA award for its exhibition ‘Constructive Agenda – 60 Years of Women in Architecture in New Zealand’.

Beyond work, Jane enjoys art, history and classical music. She is heavily involved in the Wellington Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish, both in the liturgy and on the finance committee. She also has significant interest and experience in the restoration of heritage housing and is currently running a project to refurbish the Grade 1 listed Cathedral complex.
