MWH New Zealand recognised that after several years of growth in staff numbers, a reorganisation of the 3 floors of their Wellington office was necessary. Their brief required an improved working environment, a dedicated function room and creation of a stronger identity for each division within the organisation. A further key point was that the resulting scheme had to have the ability to be staged to accommodate a progressive move of staff around the building with minimum disruption. The result has seen a move away from the environment of individual offices to help open communication between staff and to allow light and air further into the large floor plate. Where it was not possible to remove walls, glazed openings have been inserted to open spaces up as much as possible. In other areas breakout spaces have been created so staff can meet informally away from their workstations.
