Bell Kelly Beaumont have worked with Te Kura Kaupapa at Seatoun over a number of years assisting to convert what was originally the Seatoun Primary School into an appropriate home for the Kura. The latest project has been the refurbishment and strengthening of a 1930's Hall to provide a distinctive space to meet the Kura’s needs as the focus of whanau gatherings, for education, performance and hospitality.
The project included the replacement of windows and doors, an upgrade of the kitchen facilities and refurbishment of the toilets & showers, as well as seismic strengthening and upgrade of fire protection services to permit overnight accommodation being provided for visiting groups.
The client was keen to make a statement in the refurbished hall with the strong colours. The bold and distinctive interior asserts a powerful presence, and provides a fitting backdrop for the students’ kapa haka performances.
