St John Regional Hub

Levin, Horowhenua

Palmerston North

Empathising with the needs of the local community, comprehending St john’s operational framework and understanding the urban growth policies of the region was crucial to develop a bespoke facility for Horowhenua District. Designed to be one of the critical facilities for the wellbeing of the local community, the proposed Ambulance Station and Training facility in Levin is planned to become the central hub for the whole region.

Various design parameters - site features, rural context, spatial adjacencies, operational needs of the organisation, HDC’s wider objectives & policies for the region, design philosophy and fiscal limitations -  were weaved together to co-create the final outcome. Vibrant synthesis between Team Architects + 242AM Architects and design partners lead to stimulating design discourse throughout all the design phases.
