Combining Belgium influences and the essence of quintessential kiwi lifestyle was one of the most significant design driver for this bi-cultural home. The feature brick walls on either side of the atrium is laid in Flemish bond, the origin of which has its roots in Flanders, Belgium. Digital design strategies were adopted to design and schedule the 3D brick artwork. The juxtaposition of warm and cold materials is also reflected in the interiors. Site configuration lead to an axial arrangement and visual expression of the axis. Various building elements in different planes are aligned to create visual imagery of an axis. Every space, including the art gallery, is carefully customised to suit the client's need. The interior & exterior colour palette was inspired by the client's art collection. The house was designed with sustainable design principles to achieve higher energy performance.
