A chic transformation of a well known salon within a central city retail mall.
In essence, the HQ team were looking for a total revamp of their premises with almost all surfaces, shop front and a good portion of electrical and plumbing services being addressed in the process.
A two week on-site construction period demanded prefabrication of most of the joinery units and a short lead-in directed us quickly to a fast-track construction method working closely with Clelands Construction Ltd and their joinery team. The traditional perimeter layout of the salon gave way to a centralised model with access each side of a reception desk and screen wall designed to dominate the shop front.
Old aluminium frame shop front glazing was replaced with full height frameless glazing to accentuate the new reception screen as a division between public and client spaces. Lacquer finished MDF and rich stained and lacquered plywood respond well to a darkened timber floor.
Lighting was critical and fluorescent lamps were specified for their appropriate colour rendering properties. Feature and purposeful task lighting was then added to create mood and illuminate selected features and work areas.
Overall a thorough transformation which has been enthusiastically received by staff and customers alike.
