Set on a sloping site with a panoramic aspect across Christchurch, Pegasus Bay and to the Southern Alps, the Glenstrae House has been designed to not only capitalise on these views, but also provide a private courtyard accessed through generous sliding glass doors directly off the main living spaces.  Sheltered from the prevailing easterly wind and warmed by the afternoon sun this courtyard is a focus of social activities.

Conceived as three pods articulated by entry and staircase glazed links, this house uses the concrete masonry and horizontal weatherboard claddings to clearly identify the three different zones while its open plan layout allows easy access between them.
