Aerial Architecture BOON

The concept is derived from a quintessential kiwi camp and contrives 3 primary spaces you would find in a campground – The Pavilion – shared living residence, The Camp – utility and sleeping quarters, and The Courtyard – the central congregation and pivot point of the home.

The rhomboid building and angled roof mimic the shape and gradual slope of the site. Privacy and shelter have been addressed through a perimeter shell of protective insulated precast concrete. The structural precast concrete has textured formwork surfaces that are exposed throughout interior creating a contrast to the timber wall finishes and paneled ceiling.

The central courtyard is cleverly designed as a sheltered outdoor living zone that visually draws visitors through the from the entry to the living space. It acts as a unique transition and connection point within the home joining inside and out, and the living and utility quarters.

The generous 295m2 home including large garage has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It features extensive custom joinery by Annika Rowson – creating cleaver storage, sleeping arrangements and, seating spaces.
